India is a fascinating country to visit and going on holiday here will provide you with memories which will last a lifetime. There are so many different things to see and do; here are 6 suggestions of awesome places to add to your itinerary.

Awesome Places to visit in India#01: Rajasthan

Rajasthan is a state in the northern India which borders Pakistan. It is a state that is known for the Thar Desert, opulent palaces, old fortresses and beautiful lakes. Jaipur is the state capital and it is filled with exciting places to visit like the City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar and the Jal Mahal, a palace built in the middle of a lake.

Visit the city of Udaipur and see the stunning Lake Pichola, Jag Mandir and Jagdish Temple. Be sure to visit the largest tiger reserve in the Ranthambore National Park. You can see more about my visit to Rajasthan here.

Awesome Places to visit in India #02: Assam

Assam is a state in the North-eastern part of India which is popular for its tea estates and wildlife reserves. Assam also has several wildlife parks which provide refuge to several endangered animals.

You can visit the Kaziranga National Park to see one horned rhinos, the Manas National Park to see Bengal tigers, elephants and rhinos and Dibru-Saikhowa National Park which is a wildlife refuge. You can also visit different tea estates and try the tea that is grown there.

Awesome Places to visit in India #03: Kodaikanal

Kodaikanal is a hill town in the state of Tamilnadu in the south eastern part of India. It has granite cliffs, forested areas, waterfalls and beautiful lakes. It is 2,000 metres above the sea level and has beautiful valleys filled with both coniferous and deciduous vegetation. You can rent an English cottage with a fireplace and walk or travel around the town with your own rented vehicle, buses or auto rickshaws.

A few popular locations are Kodaikanal Lake, Pillar Rocks Viewpoint, Guna caves, Berijam Lake, Silver Cascade Falls and Palani Hills.

One of the main reasons people go on holiday to Agra is to see the incredible Taj Mahal, which is listed among the 7 Wonders of the World. The Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his wife Mumtaz who died at childbirth.

You can visit the Agra Fort which was the residence of the emperor during the 16th century before the capital was shifted to Delhi. You can also take an Air Safari over the Taj Mahal which offers stunning views of the different forts and tombs below.

Awesome Places to visit in India #05: Himachal Pradesh

It is a northern state in India and it is situated in the Himalayas. It is home to scenic mountain towns, spectacular Buddhist monasteries, beautiful lakes and forested areas.

You can visit the town of Manali to which is a starting point if you wish to travel to the highest roads in India to the town of Leh. You can go travel through the Rohtang Pass in the Leh – Manali Highway which is a 490km stretch and see the spectacular view of the biggest mountain range in the world the Himalayas.


Goa is a state in western India that is known as the party hub in India. Goa is popular for its Christmas and New Year parties with renowned DJ’s from all over the world performing in various clubs and beach side locations in the Goa.

It has plenty of beautiful beaches with accommodations available right on the beach side from small huts to big beach resorts based on your needs and budget. The popular 600m high Dudhsagarwater fall is a place to visit. You can indulge in water activities such as surfing, parasailing and paragliding.
